All your going to do with this stupid tax increase is push more people to buy goods out of Chicago and Cook County.

          Chicago 10.25% downtown Chicago 11.25%

          New York 8.37%

          Los Angeles 8.25%

Why does it have to be so high?

          It's ridiculous!

Yeesh! Back in 1994-1995 when I was living in downtown Chi-town I used to joke we weren't citizens, we were "revenue enhancement opportunity windows".

They have to make up for all the tax cuts being given to corporations and the wealthy.

Its the Bush way. Its called supply side economics. They tax you on everyting you need to live. They give tax breaks to the wealthy. Who always know someone they can get it tax free from anyway. So the sales tax is pushed to the consumer.

You know the little guy who pays for the good things he never gets to appreciate. Because he is paying for the rich guys to have them.

Thus the trickle down economic theory. They pis* on the consumers who can't afford tax umbrellas.

Don't you sometimes wonder what is wrong with those folks who vote to raise their taxes again and again? Especially, these days with everything becoming more expensive. Are they programed in some way or is the water drugged?

That is the silliest most convoluted remark you've ever made to discredit President Bush and you've made some really nutty ones. The problem with this one is George Bush doesn't run Chicago but a democrat mayor named Daley is in charge there.LMAO

                  Wolfie2007,

Umm, Chicago is in Cook County, making it the second largest county by population in the United States (after Los Angeles County, California), it accounts for 43.3% of the state's population. The county seat is Chicago, the principal city of its metropolitan area; Chicago makes up approximately 54% of the population of the county, the rest being provided by various suburbs.

                  Wolfie2007,

The problem with this sales tax increase doesn't lie with Chicago's Mayor Daley.

The problem has to do with Cook County Board President Todd Stroger.
