Oil tops $140 after OPEC price prediction »
Posted By TechnologyExpert 5 months, 1 week ago in Business & FinanceOil futures shot above $140 Thursday after OPEC's president said crude prices could rise well above $150 a barrel this year and Libya said it may cut oil production. The advance raised the likelihood that gasoline prices would also extend their march higher, and that prices of goods and services throughout the economy would also keep rising.

National security issue. We must nationalize oil, we must cap CO2 emissions and reduce them, we must develope other than oil energy sources.
We cannot be held hostage to foreign oil. We cannot let the saudi oil princes, and russian oil barrons, and Nigerian war lords and Middle eastern relilgious tribes control Americas energy policy.
Brazil has a sensible energy policy, are they so much smarter than America?
The answer is 1. nationalize oil, use 100% of profits to build national rail high speed trains across america, and increase bus transportation, trolleys, subways, and solar, wind, geothermal, drastically increase gas mileage minimums for new cars through law, no car should be less than 50 miles/gallon.
2. Stop buying foreign oil from non democratic nations, inother words, stop buying foreign oil. Set a time limit of 15 years, then no more foreign oil.

The single most dangerous thing in the world is global CO2 concentration in the atmosphere increasing average global temperature. Ice caps gone in less than 50 years. 20 meter rise in water level. Mass starvation of overpopulated 3rd world, world war over food, oil.
We can either let our children choke, or do something about it. We cannot let greed and the billionaire oil rich determine if our children live or die.

I see our way of life being threatened and our government is doing nothing! Oh, they will say they are trying to increase the drilling for new oil and encouraging the oil companies to build more refineries by offering them tax breaks. TAX BREAKS!
All of this will do nothing to lower the price of oil. When are the voters of this country going to wake up and start voting out of office these congressmen/women who are utterly failing to perform the job that they were elected to do? Simply put, it is to represent our needs and interests before their own.

But if the LIBS would just let us DRILL today, I know for a fact that the prospect of additional US oil (even though it won't hit the market until 2010, at least) will be JUST the leverage we can use and then prices will begin to plummet overnight. If I were a business owner and knew I would have more competition 10 short years from now (that's like, TOMORROW almost!), I would immediately cut my profit margin. Hell-ooo? Who WOULDN'T do that?!!
Why won't the LIBS wake up and realize this and just let us move the drilling equipment into ANWR today?! China is invading Cuba and their drilling rigs can be seen from Miami Beach and the LIBS won't let us drill for oil "in our own back yard"? And why isn't the DEM Congress bringing gas prices DOWN?! They've been in power for 18 MONTHS!! Republicans were having discussions about when they would get around to considering strategies for lowering gas prices but the public is SO fickle and they voted the GOP out of power. Whyyy?!! ;-x

I haven't seen any indication from any one that allowing drilling in Alaska or off shore is goint to reduce the price of oil more than a few cents. That is not the answer to our problem. Any politician espousing that bunk should be kicked out of office. Supply and demand is not running up the price of oil.

You know it I know it so why cannot the rest of the ones in charge realize it??? Maybe it is time for the American public to BOYCOTT buying gas every Friday or Monday! Easy to say but harder to do! Besides ANWAR would go to foreign markets anyway like the North Slope oils does now.
