FTA:
Despite being worth $58 billion, $2 billion more than last year, Gates is now the world's third-richest person, ceding the top spot ranking to his good friend and partner in philanthropy, Warren Buffett, whose net worth jumped $10 billion to $62 billion. Ranked No. 2 is Mexican telecom tycoon Carlos Slim Helú, whose fortune has doubled in just two years to $60 billion.
Cool.

They would have more, if they were to startup new manufacturing businesses right here in the USA! And employ American workers!
And yet today year is 2008, with all their wealth, there are thousands of people in Mexico, USA and many other countries living in poverty, along with children going to bed hungry every night!
I don't understand how they can sleep at night!
Thanks for list, not2needy!

"And yet today year is 2008, with all their wealth, there are thousands of people in Mexico, USA and many other countries living in poverty, along with children going to bed hungry every night!"
Illegal immigration and currently the Iraq War has been a tremdous burden on the taxpayers.
the second richest man in the world is Mexican. how ironic that we have to take care of these mexicans who have INVADED our country looking for a better life. Let the Slim family take care of Mexico.
provide job training and jobs. FU carlos slim, president Calderon, huge corporations, and all the bleeding hearts who feel illegal aliens deserve to be here.
Incidentally, McCain, Obama and Clinton are all pro-amnesty setting us up for the North American Union.
and, in Europe, the European Union is starting to issue national ID cards with tracking chips...we're next.

I wasn't aware that amazing success was a badge of shame. Do YOU go to bed hungry? Do YOU live in a shack? How do YOU sleep at night knowing that some have less than you? Perhaps you too should sacrifice the fruits of your thinking and labor. After all, your logic dictates if one doesn't prosper, NOBODY should.

Many of us don't go to bed hungry, nor sleep in a cardboard box, however, it may be all we can do to keep that roof and food on the table, with NOTHING leftover. I think that was more the point, not the average joe, but the BILLIONAIRES who should care more about their fellow human beings. But with your moniker, and politics, why would i expect you to understand human kindnesses????????

Definitions of success differ:
To be a good neighbor, good spouse, good parent, to work for the benefit of your community, to be honest and kind, to live so that many will mourn your passing, these things I count as success.
To make money your God and amass so much of the green paper that to spend it all would be more a burden than a joy, that is the mark not of success but of a fscked up individual.

I know that Buffet and Gates are both generous philanthropists
and that is to their credit. Being wealthy however, does not
entitle you to have to give away your money.I would not hold it against any of them if they did not donate anything to a
charitable cause.

Becoming rich (first generation) requires a lot of things to come together in the right way. You have to be willing to work, have knowledge, guts, the right attitude, the right gimmick, more than one idea about how to get things done AND a fair amount of luck. Bill Gates didn't start poor. Both of his parents were intelligent, talented and able to give Bill the boost that he needed at the start, due to their own wealth. After that, it was Bill and Paul Allen working together.
Warren Buffett started by delivering newspapers on his bicycle and paid income taxes at age 13, when most of us were complaining about our allowance being too small.
Find something that costs a dime to make, sells for a dollar and is needed by everyone. That'll make you rich.

I'm more impressed by the mexican guy who doubled his income in 2 years... How long is it going to take him to catch up?
