"IRS officials confirmed that the payments would not be subject to federal income taxes for the 2008 tax year" - HOWEVER! this does NOT necessarily mean that the "refund" won't be added directly into "taxes due" for 2008. I don't guess they've really decided that yet. The IRS may giveth, but the IRS DEFINITELY taketh away.

The Jackass wants to use our taxes to send out relief checks. Well, in a way it will reduce the loan check from China.
What a pathetic situation after 7 years. It is more pathetic that GOP(Gay Old Party) wants 4 more years. They say Democrats will make the country worse. Can they make it any worse than what already it is?

I'm sure I will get rated down, but it's something to think about. They put a cap at 175,000 per household. If you make 175k a year you probably pay at least 35k a year in taxes. Why should they be excluded. If you are wanting to stimulate the economy, who more is going to buy more things. Why put a limit on the people that contribute the most in taxes? If you pay 35k in taxes why shouldn't you get some money back just like everyone else. It will be interesting to hear what you have to say. Is someone that makes 50k a year more deserving than someone that pays more taxes than that person?

I am the same way, I won't get anything back, but if the rebates allow folks to shop at Wal Mart buying chinese junk it will at least keep the shipping sector busy. And add to the obscene trade deficit. It will do nothing for manufacturing in the good old USA......
