The Ford family issued a rare statement Monday, emphatically denying that members are discussing the sale of part of their Ford Motor Co. holdings.

That suggestion has been gaining steam in the news media -- citing unnamed people -- after the family heard a presentation about the services a private financial advisory firm could offer the Fords, who have controlled the voting power of the automaker since its inception nearly 104 years ago. The family currently holds 40% of the voting rights in the company.
