"We also are seeing more volatility in pricing," Cain said. "AAA used to do a statewide gas gauge (study of prices) once a week, but now, the prices at the pumps at individual gas stations might do up or down several times in one day.

"We are hopeful that we are seeing prices about as high as they are going to go, but you never know what could happen."

((((What ever-I've heard that before)))) They are testing us to see just how high they can make it and get away with it before anybody says anything)))) these Gas stations change prices sometimes three times a day(in one day) come on now they paid NO MORE or NO LESS for that gas they already have.We are being ripped off daily...

I tried to wait out the gas prices for nearly two weeks waiting for them to drop from $2.77 (high for our area) and just yesterday, they were up to $2.99.

Is it nothing more than a dream to ever hope to see the $2.15-$2.30 mark we were at a couple years ago?

They're asking us to pick up their anticipated higher wholesale prices, for their next purchase. Then they can charge us more when that arrives, & their bottom line isn't affected.

We in Washington State are heading towards $4.00 a gallon. I don't care, I work at home. To those that thought Kerry was mad " I will raise gas from $1.50 to $2.00 if I'm elected" now can regret in leisure...

You have apples. like in Washingyon state. You charge a buck

a line forms, you chage two dolars an apple, you still have a line. Than you take a chance and charge $4.00 an apple you still have a line. Are you a crook or are the buyers just plain stupid.

Up here in the apple state, people are buying houses from a 30 minute drive to work to one hour. They drive the 12 mile a gallon SUV's. Crooks or stupid!!!

Welcome to the new trend, this is the way it's going to be from now on. After the record profits this type of hikes produced last year, I don't see why they would change after all the American people acted like sheep and did nothing when they hiked the prices on us. Why should they stop punching you in the eye if you are going to sit there like an ass and do nothing about it? Me I only drove when necessary and I will do the same again this year...to hell with them.

Where did our fight go, everyday I get sadder at what we have become...there is no balls left, no strength in numbers there is always someone breaking ranks just for a small taste of happiness. Oh how I miss my country, the one we had before these wining bullies took it over. God bless America, save us from ourselves and the self-centered fools we elected.

It's more than just that. It is a national security issue. The more mergers that were allowed in the energy sector resulted in the consolidation of both suppliers and refiners. This can result in economies of scale of savings are not passed on to consumers because it also resulted in regional and national monopolies. 10 years ago terrorist would have to hit 15 or 20 refiners or energy substations to do some damage to us economically or to terrorize us. Now we here all the time that if a hurricane damages one refinery on Gulf Coast the Eastern US will be crippled. This is a matter of national security and one of the two original purposes of the FERC. The first purpose was to prevent price gouging during a time of war. Now, in time of war it is patriotic. This is George Bush's America? It looks like America on Crack to me.

The prices went up in my area a dime as well this weekend.

With summer coming on and the economy not the greatest right now. My guess is there will be a lot shorter vacation trips this year. For some people it will mean no vacation trip at all except to the park down the street.

        Peace

I'm thankful I work 2.5 miles from home. See if your employer would let you work a day or two from home. (depending on your career, anyway)

Gas is about $3.29 here in Portland, OR and I commute about 25 miles each way.

Fortunately I start a new job this week that's close enough to home to ride my bike to work (about 10 miles each way).
